CSense event log
The CSense event log contains information on any events logged by CSense Runtime.
Important: To use the CSense event log effectively, it is expected that you are an experienced Windows Event Viewer user.
Access the CSense event log
You can access the event log in the following two ways:

Within CSense Runtime Manager, as one of the nodes.

As a Windows utility, in Event Viewer, under Applications and Services logs.
Access within CSense Runtime Manager

Open CSense Start Center from the Start menu.
CSense Start Center opens. -
On the Home tab, click CSense Runtime Manager.
The CSense Runtime Manager application opens, listing all the valid Action Objects. -
In the node, expand Application and Services Logs and then select CSense
The CSense related events are listed. -
You can now double-click an event, and view information about that event.
Access as a Windows Utility

Search and open Event Viewer in Windows search.
The Event Viewer tool opens. -
Expand Application and Services Logs and then select CSense.
The CSense related events are listed.
Change the default Properties
You can change the following default log properties of the CSense event log:

Maximum log size: The maximum size of the log files. The default log size for the CSense event log is 20MB, and when the maximum size is reached, the existing events will be overwritten.

Log Path: The default path where the log file is saved. By default, the CSense log is saved at %SystemRoot%\System32\Winevt\Logs\CSense.evtx. However, you can change it to a different path as needed.

What happens when the maximum event log size is reached: You can select what must happen when the maximum log size is reached. You can select any of the following settings:

Overwrite events as needed (oldest events first): overwrites the existing, old events with the new events.

Archive the log when full, do not overwrite events: auto-archives the existing events.

Do not overwrite events (clear logs manually).

View CSense Events on the Event Viewer
You can view the sequence and type of CSense-related events that were logged.
General Tab
You can view general information about the event with easy descriptions of the event, the level of the event, that is, whether the event is an error, information, or warning, and more.
Details Tab
This is more of a structured layout of the information about an event.
Filter CSense event log
You can filter log based on the following:
- Event ID: The ID of an event. Each ID denotes a specific type of event.
- Level: The level of an event. For example, Information, Error, or Warning.
- User: The account in which the application was running that logged the event.
- Source: The source from where the events are logged. CSense events are logged from the following three sources:
- Proficy CSense Run-time List Server: All events logged by the Proficy CSense Run-time List Service.
- Proficy CSense Run-time Service: All events logged by the Proficy CSense Run-time Service.
- Proficy CSense: All events logged by Action Objects deployed in the CSense Runtime Manager.
To filter the log, perform the following:

Search and open Event Viewer in Windows search.
The Event Viewer tool opens. -
Expand Application and Services Logs.

Perform any one of the following steps as needed:

Right-click CSense, and then select Filter Current Log.

-
Click CSense.
The CSense related events are listed. -
In the Actions pane, click Filter Current Log.
The Filter Current Log window opens.

You can select the filters as needed.
-
Click OK.
The events are listed based on the filters selected.
